WELL HEY THERE.
I’m in Japan.
It’s a crazy, crazy world we live in. I’m sitting in a new apartment musing on the twisted threads fate’s spun that have led me to this place. Also I’m thinking HALLOWEEN.
Happily, they’re about as crazy for Halloween in this country as I am, at least if you can measure Halloween love by monster donuts and orange-and-black gewgaws in every shop and annoying pop stars doing vaguely Halloween-themed dance numbers on late-night talk shows. (You can.)
While it in no way compares to the Halloween Junky Orchestra masterpiece I gave you a couple years back, the AKB48 number below at least further indicates that people here kinda can get down with costumes and monsters and stuff.
Actually I freaking hate it–it’s a horrible, cloying, saccharine piece of cynical pop culture moneymaking schlock–but dammit, it’s Japanese and it’s Halloweeny, so here you go. SO IT BEGINS.

Your presence has been missed!
There’s a lot of smiling in that video…
Aw, thanks! And yeah, it’s very… smiley. Ugh. I’ll try to find a better one. Halloween stuff started here pretty much at the end of August, so it shouldn’t be too hard.
