I often struggle with the second-guessing (not to mention self-loathing) that accompanies grad student life. Is this really what I want to do? Is this worthwhile? Does anybody but me care about this stuff?
But one thing that is pretty undeniably cool about my job: I just bought a Ouija board. For class. And I am super excited.

I tried to approach it respectfully. I was talking about the development of Spiritualism, and Ouija is tied up in all that. It’s also useful to demonstrate the buying and selling of belief (I had to buy mine at a Spencer’s Gifts, which was both humiliating and scary in its own right!)
